If you are on Facebook and connected with the Madison community you most likely know about Bill Franzke’s tragic accident on August 7th of 2019. While on an annual bike riding trip in Eastern Washington Bill collided with a gate causing spine trauma that has left him paralyzed. Bill is an icon in the Madison and Oregon track community, a PIL and Madison Hall of Fame coach that did so much for so many Senators. The Madison Alumni Association attracts many good generous people so we wanted to declare our full support, prayers and thoughts for the Franzke family.
There has been a huge outpouring of support for financial help for the Franzke family. If you feel this is a way you can support, they would appreciate it. Currently there are many expenses that are expected and unexpected that are not covered by insurance. Unforeseen medical costs, wheel chair purchase, handicap accessible van, shower chair, medical transportation back to Portland, an airbed to prevent bedsores, future home care nursing expenses, home remodel to accommodate Bill’s adapted living needs, among others that are unknown at this time.
